Anybody remember Genie? Used to go there to get the current gold prices, back in '80, and share hints, discoveries, with others playing the latest text adventure games. Still have my Apple IIe and the modem.

Ah, yes, the acoustic coupler.

I admit I never had to use a 110 baud modem. My first was a 300 acoustic coupler.

but since all we were sending was straight text, it worked okay.

Can you imagine sending a .gif file at 300 baud? Whew!
