Iraq has a colonial administration, there are no elected authorities and the constitution is provisional, there is no way the trial can be legitimate.
Eventually this sore will fester. However if they wait until all legalities are met then Bush probably will not be able to use the trial to suit his purpose, a boost in ratings.
If they try Saddam legally then the involvement of the United States as an accessory to Hussein’s crimes will surface. And that must be hidden at all costs.
