I think the bigger report is the Taiwan export report. Exports down 42% from Taiwan means orders dropping and prices dropping on computer hardware.
It would seem this would result from maybe 20% lower prices and 20% lower orders, so Apple, Intel, HP, Dell, and Intel and Microsoft by association should all be experiencing rapid slowdowns similar to what we saw in Dec. 2000. Remember when Chambers said orders stopped coming in like someone had switched off a light.
I think most of the smaller LCD's are being sold by the manufacturers below cost. The LCD business has massive over-capacity right now, and with the switch to HDTV almost here, I think we're going to see a huge drop in demand for LCD TV's.
I think my next TV is going to be an OLED LCD in a couple of years.
