The Central bank Governor Sinan al-Shabibi said the bank may reconsider its monetary policy, including the interest rates and expanding credit requirements.
He clarified in a speech during his participation in a symposium organized by the Association of private Iraqi banks that the bank is watching the interactions of the global financial crisis closely and trying to adjust monetary policy with the changes under way.
He added that the bank may reconsider this policy, including the interest rates and expanding credit requirements to stimulate the national economy and increase the contribution of the private sector in development.
He said the strict monetary policy of the bank succeeded in reducing the rate of inflation in the country from 36% to 16% from 2006 until this year.
