Rick, On Friday I posted a QQQ short at 10:46 here on the board. We hit the high of the day on the compq at 10:45. What I saw was heavy program trades through the morning driving the nas upward. Once we reached a point that the program trades were no longer moving the market, it looked like a time to short. A similar set-up came at 13:35.
"The next move could by a violent spike up,". That's what I look for on the tick. I look for a big buy program s to hit with no follow up buying. If the market absorbs a big buy program or two I make the assumption that selling is starting to overwhelm buying. The program traders do not want to keep pounding away just to see their actions sold. They will back off and wait for another time.
