It's like the phone lines, cable TV, electricity....should be government-controlled monopolies or government-owned and run. Too much wasted infracture with competition that could be done so much cheaper and better if you had one giant network. Can you imagine if there were 5 water companies competiting for the business to your home, each with separate pipes? Certain things competition is bad.
Besides, we need a universal singular internet in order for half of the sci-fi doomsday stories to come true. Let's just get it over with. All of us on one government-controlled network. Big brother, baby.
