Duke, Re: In a research note published this morning, the analyst mentions that Intel has launched its 900 series Grantsdale and Alderwood chipsets for consumer and enterprise desktop PC platforms, respectively. The company expects its new chipset technology to serve the desktop PC platforms through the next ten years, Prudential Financial says.
Kind of misleading...
What they really mean is that PCI-Express will serve the platform for at least another decade.
Actually, I think it can be larger if they extend the PCI-Express spec over the years, like they did with PCI extending to PCI-X (even though the latter never became a desktop standard).
