#29912 RE: Max Power #29910

Agree. It will be VERY interesting to see the REE potentials proved up. Clearly they have potential to add some very significant value.

The value they might have can depend on a lot of variables, too, including the degree to which unique resources have unique characteristics that require or enable modifying the physical or chemical separations processes. Not all of the resulting variables are good, but neither are they necessarily bad... including that there may be some wild cards as outliers, depending on the geology. Long term value of a deposit, for instance, given forward looking issues, might be influenced by the temperature history in its deposition... by the sizes as well as compositions of separable particles. Over time, prices for smaller particles might come to have a lot more value.

The prices for the materials TODAY also aren't really the key issue... since SRSR isn't selling anything today... and current investment will be dependent on future prices. REEs today are a nice kicker, and they also insulate somewhat against single resource price dependencies, but, they also have some much more volatile upside potential than niobium. Some have been whacked pretty well in the downturn... but, they can go back up just as fast when demand exists... and who knows what unique new demands for one or the other will pop up in the next few years...

I do think finding the right result in the REEs has the potential to virtually ensure that the mine will get built. For me, that is by far their largest current value, in that potential for leverage... as THAT means you can start to look at the values in the ground as eventually being worth something more to SRSR than you get in the standard 10% in "resource value" with a 90% discount applied. If mining costs are low, and one or two of them will cover the cost of mining, then the rest of the values get valued for SRSR at market instead of at 10% of market... and THAT is the big leverage you want to have happen, which the REE can enable...
