O/T smilinghiker, I have a few friends who are from Mumbai (Bombay) and go there annually. However, the castes they are from may be different than the one your friend is from, and they may move in different circles and have different levels of comfort with surgeons.
For example, one family is "Jane" (sp?) which is a small minority caste, and another is Christian (rare, only 1% of the population).
I think there may also be some people lurking here who may be able to help, as there are many people from Bombay working in the USA in the medical profession.
I'll also see what I can find out.
One could also just call the Dell customer service line, as you'll likely get someone in Bangalore <G>
