Totally agree...plus the lessens learned for Gates at Pacific Ethenol on what not to do and when to go public...should be HIGHLY anticipated IPO when the combination to unlocking Algae oils' secret is found.
This will be interesting to follow.

<"Knowing Bill Gates he will help get this one eventually on the AMEX if the commercial plants prove successful. By that time the investment world will know all about algae and we may see a mad dash into this sector">.
================

Will the key to a successful strain or refining process or the combination of both be shared? How will that be controlled....will it be controlled? Can it be? Should it be?
Or is this any different than a pharma co discovering a cure for cancer? To the Victor go the spoils.

There is a moral equation/factor to be considered. Moral issues are what basically brought down, or is bringing down, corn ethenol -turning food into fuel- (there were other factors as well but you get my drift).

We've touched on this subject before biofuel... and it seems to me that a special but binding agreement needs to be set and agreed upon by all players BEFORE the breakthrough(s) happens.

As a capitalist that hurts my head to ponder but there should be a way for the "winner" to be well compensated but not to the point of becoming a gigantic monopoly.

I would only add that Algenol also impresses me as having at least a clear pr, and probably scientific, advantage at this stage.
