I tried but he couldn't seem to hear anything I was saying to him.
He answered the phone: "This is Joe" and there was no mistaking his very distinct voice and accent... you've spoken with him so you know. I would've called back but knowing it was him I figured he wouldn't tell me anything substantive. You might have a better chance at getting some honest answers from Joe... but maybe not based on what you say he's told you in the past.
