New York is one of the 10-15. The other prominent ones are FL, CA, most of New England, the upper Northwest (Seattle, Portland). My house was $699k here in Texas and the builder said he would charge $3.5-4mil in any of these other areas. To me, that is the real reason for the housing market problem. If you make under $200k, you don't need to be buying a $1mil house - simple as that! The one thing we hope for here is property tax relief - I pay a little over $17k a year on property tax!
