It can be sold online once you have the stock.. no broker needed. Also, TDAmeritrade will only charge the online commission price for the trade and not the brokered commission.
I've sent TDA a recommendation that they permit clients to opt-out of the forced phone ordering. I hold little hop of it happening though.
