If the idea is for the tire industry as a whole to go to RFID tagging then paying royalties to Michelin or Goodyear might not sit well with other companies so a non-"branded" one may be more acceptable to the smaller tire co's.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds and who produces tags. Will cars come before trucks/lorries - I doubt it given the economics are better for trucks.

The Chinese are very secretive about their credentials. This is the head of DDCT. He is about 10 years younger than I thought. " The best start young". I heard he was in the military, I don't see it in the resume. Perhaps the satellite control center hired civilians? This resume in the west wouldn't cut it.
