Saturn, I don't see anything new that Foundry Inc. brings to the foundry market. Like Spansion, Foundry Inc. looks like another effort by AMD to spin off a money-losing division into a separate money-losing entity.
This is the way AMD has always addressed the cost-side of its business model, by passing off its problems to others. Only problem is that now Foundry Inc. has to include its own costs in the fees it charges to its customers, such as AMD.
The net effect is that AMD does NOT avoid the costs. In other words, it's just another "reorg" ...
