There's no way Mr. Rivera was that stupid. No doubt he 'misinterpreted' it on purpose so he could hype the stock.
I know a lot of people who got home loans, mostly for a few hundred thousand dollars, and every one was very informed as to the status of their loan. I never heard a single case of someone saying, "Well, we got an e-mail that led us to believe we got the loan but the tricky bank put a legend at the bottom saying it wasn't saying what the rest of the communication led us to believe."
For Mr. Rivera to profess to be working "closely" with Oppenheimer but somehow be completely oblivious like he claimed is ridiculous.
