Jatropha provides one of the best bio diesel fuel sources anywhere and can grow under very difficult conditions where you can't grow anything else. There is some lead time. but is very prolific producer of oil bearing nuts. The plant is being planted all over Africa. You could also pay local people to harvest so they could make income harvesting and processing. Doug should look into that idea.
