Crow3 -- the nightmare scenario is one that touches down just on the western edge of the metro and in less than 10 minutes minutes grows into a >1.5-mile wide extremely violent event (just as the one I saw did) that then tears a corresponding gash the long way WSW to ENE all the way across right through the heart of the entire metro, starting right at the time the evening rush is going into its peak period -- something like that could conceivably result in tens of thousands lost and scores of thousands more hurt -- not to mention tens of billions in damage, rivalling the results of the worst hurricanes -- . . .
hopefully it'll be generations from now -- but given enough time, sooner or later there will be such an event
