Wok Don't Run!

High gas prices got you down? How about filling up at your local Chinese restaurant?

The Associated Press reports that some Volkswagen owners are modifying their cars to run on used vegetable oil. Environmentally friendly and easy on the wallet, the "veggie car" is winning supporters. Veggie car convert Etta Kantor drives to her local Chinese restaurant to fill-up her Volkswagen Jetta. She calls ahead and has the owner put aside a few buckets of used oil especially for her.

Greasecar Vegetable Fuel Systems of Florence, Massachusetts sells conversion kits that allow cars to run on the recycled restaurant oil. A standard conversion kit sells for US$800 and only work on diesel engines.

What is the only downside? Smelling like Chinese food all the time.
