Remember, the preferred shares holder rank above the common. The preferreds will be paid in full before the common get much of anything.

Buy a preferred share I mentioned and you have a $25 per share unsecured debt claim at the bankruptcy versus the common that have no claim to any assets until everyone else is paid in full.
