Dew, anyone with huge blockbusters coming off patent whose
bottom line ala Pfizer with Lipitor will take a huge
hit, quite possibly $10 billion once Lipitor is open
to generics, would possibly want an Avastin, Herceptin,
Rituxan, Raptiva etc pipeline to shore up the bottom
line and protect their golden paychecks....stranger
things have happened and Big Pharma will be and is
looking to buy pipelines and earnings like Cisco Systems
did in the 90's to fuel their halcyon growth.
Cisco built up their tech on the backs of small startups
that couldn't go it alone but had cutting edge technology
and succumbed to the huge premium Cisco was willing to
pay to acquire said technology to integrate into their
stable of existing product lines.
Just speculating that a BIG company might like the revenue
and earnings flow from DNA to save their anal apertures
from shareholder revolt due to diminishing share prices..
