Not too smart, if you already invested in vast arrays of solar cells, why then convert this electrical power into Hydrogen chemical power (with conversion and storage losses), why not use the electricity directly?
Bruce, it's a great idea except that the solar panel construction costs (energy) are not recouped during the useful lifetime of the panels. Silicon is very expensive to manufacture. The solar energy problem will be solved when a panel can be made for a lower total energy cost than the panel can generate over its useful working lifetime.
