That's news to me. Did you wake up this morning into some Groundhog Day routine from about 10 years ago?

In contrast Opteron doesn't take MS anywhere it hasn't already been for years on Xeon.

Windows AMD64 will definitely take Microsoft to places where 32 bit Windows could not. 64 bitness takes away a huge reason for going with RISC dinosaurs. Microsoft is not participating in the 64 bit market except the token participation with Itanium version.

And that's only because Microsoft hasn't released an OS for AMD64, right?

That's a relatively short term disadvantage, and when MS64 tips, it's going to tip real hard and real fast. So says MS themselves.
