Try this if you want, about 1 week prior to seeding, begin to feed w/ bird seed elsewhere, side corner of yard, etc. they will keep THERE for the most part while your seed settles

only about 2-4 days before seed will settle into loose soil and they cant see it. Rye grass I am guessing or fescue which should germ in 10-14 days
