Especially embarrassing for me since Wikipedia reminds me that Sanofi originally belonged to Total, the French oil company, for which I worked 30 years ago. And there really aren't any Italian pharma companies to speak of. I think my fuddled memory managed to confuse Sanofi and Serono, which, while Swiss until acquired by German Merck, was at least founded by an Italian!
