Has anyone asked for refund? If yes, what was the response? The answers have been three fold: 1)"You might choose to sell the trees yourself, there is a small transfer fee" 2) We can try to market your trees to our investors, but we cannot guarantee you a sale" 3) "Some of our investors have choosen a different path, donating their trees to charitable organizations - talk with your tax abvisor about the implications of this situation, we do not provide tax or finanacial advice."
There is no excuse to be not able to sell the 13 yrs thinnings
If you read some of the past posting you will find out why is difficult to sell 13 year old culls. I personally called more than 50 buyers & sellers, researching the feasibility of the statements made on TATF website bout pricing and other factors that affect profitability, growth girths by TATF marketed products, etc, etc. I made the mistake of no doing the research before sending a penny to Costa Rica. My hope is that people arrive to their own conclusions by reading the information posted here before they send a dollar to Costa Rica.
I can assure you that Steve and Sherry are real nice pleople, plesant and intellectually engaging, very smart and very well versed in the ins-and-outs of Costa Rica. That does not exclude the fact that its business is not all that is advertised to be, and this is not an opinion. The fact that is a bad investment it does not mean that I will not buy your 13 plus year old teaks!!! After I get TATF to review the lots. Make an offer......
Side note.
At A1 suggestion, I contacted my State Attorney General. I got an answer to my enquire, bottom line, in no legal terms, the answer was: if we get more requests for an investigation will move up the docked and start a case, for now we'll place your complain in our review and log your enquire with the state and national AG's database. And if you need further action get your own lawyer.
Have you gotten any information from TATF regarding your trees or the expected distributions from them? No credible source has received them, whatever the age of their trees.
Regarding your question about investor attempts at refunds, see post 525 and the subsequent reactions of board members relative to what that signifies regarding the value of purchased teak trees after being owned and grown for nearly a decade. Compare the farm owner's estimated value (zero) with what had been paid for them as either seedlings or younger trees.
