Well, why are women more picky about what they gather, than what men hunt?
Mostly because hunting is boring... long periods of silence punctuated by a few seconds of extreme violence.
While gathering you have the time to examine the beauty of all things... just before you toss them back in the bin.
Then there's the "gossip" factor. Women gather in pairs, men like to hunt alone. Women like to gossip, men go for the quick kill.
Show me a man with his wife and kids at a shopping mall and I'll show you one sad puppy holding a purse and fervently wishing he were somewhere else.
