I agree Iraq torture can be attempted to be swept under the rug and there will be an attempt. It won't work, the world is awash in advertising, PR, propaganda, everyone knows the game.

The only thing that would work is a real investigation and real accountability starting with Rumsfield and working downward. We should treat our Serbs like we treated the other Serbs. Otherwise we lose any moral high ground left, look hypocritical, and give the world another reason to hate America. We are supposed to be the good guys, what happened? My only post, no replies. I'm mostly referring to damage control efforts and what will work and what won't.

My personal opinion is appalled but since that can be construed as politics not going there.

zeev, demanding that Rumsfeld resign or be fired makes about as much sense as saying that you should be forced to shut down this board when the turnips malfunction.
whether you like him or not (or you just detest any conservative)Rumsfeld is helping to keep us alive. the turnips won't be of much use if we're dead or there is another 9/11. there are many criminals and persons guilty of significant wrongdoing in the congress. do you demand they resign as well? its amazing with all the whining, complaining,
criticizing and daily attacks on the current administration
on this "no politics" board no one ever seems to be thankful that our country, freedoms, markets and way of life are the result of a those who sacrifice. freedom is NOT free. too many take their freedoms for granted.

that you think its that easy sounds almost cynical ... it will be harder for him to walk away from the issue re treatment of enemies combattants, since the administration has already defended their position to the supreme court. they'll sink or swim together ...
