Shiite Gunmen Rampage in Two Iraqi Cities

By SCHEHEREZADE FARAMARZI, Associated Press Writer

NAJAF, Iraq - Gunmen loyal to radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr rampaged through Basra and another southern Iraq (news - web sites) city, attacking British patrols and government buildings a day after an al-Sadr aide offered worshippers money for capturing or killing coalition soldiers.

The aide, Sheik Abdul-Sattar al-Bahadli, offered the rewards in response to the mistreatment and humiliation of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. guards — a sign that the abuse scandal at the Abu Ghraib prison was spilling over into the confrontation between U.S. troops and al-Sadr's al-Mahdi Army militia.

Follow the poll numbers - if GWB is being hurt by DR, he'll be toast. If the admin can convince the public they are doing all possible to correct this horrific activity, DR stays. After all, these same people did succeed in convincing the majority of Americans that Iraq had something to do w/911 which allowed them to pre-emptively invade Iraq with little/no objection from most Americans.

Still no explanation from DR why, when meeting with Congressional leaders approx a week ago, he did not see fit to share these pic and all info the DoD had at that time.

My guess is the admin will go back to it's fear message - which they have used so successfully in the past - to divert attention away from the Iraqi prison issue.
