If a company (closely associated, but legally seperate company), shorts heavily (perhaps they KNOW they will get millions of shares in the near future) they can make a BUYOUT offer. The SP rises they SHORT MORE since they know they get even more at a lower price....Not saying that is happening here, but possible.....imho
