That's the way I look at it and it seems like the most plausible scenario, although there is always the possibility of some collusion between Stanton DeFreitas and some of the companies. I do have a somewhat hard time though believing that all eight companies were equally guilty. OSC's case seems to be centrally directed at ' Select American ' personnel. We shall see.
It's also amazing that DeFreitas' lawyers are blithely denying any wrongdoing and taking the OSC allegations as just that....simply allegations without merit.
Generally speaking, looking at the past enforcement history of these governmental institutions in Canada just like ours in the U.S. .....even if they prove guilt, it usually winds up with what appears to be a slight slap on the wrist.
You would think they would have put the guilty in jail and thrown the key to the jail cell away long ago instead of still bickering at these hearings as to what kind of trading account restrictions should be imposed on Stanton DeFreitas.
