#33499 RE: j3pflynn #33490

Paul, decaw, while it is true that coherence is not part of the standard, I will call attention to my assertion in that very same post that there is still 2 years work once Intel decided they wanted to use HyperTransport. (I even underlined that part!) There is nothing stopping a licensee from building coherent HyperTransport:

16.
Question:
What are coherent HyperTransport™ technology and non-coherent HyperTransport™ technology?

Answer:
Coherent HyperTransport™ technology is a application of HyperTransport™ technology used to link multiple processors together where memory coherence is required. An example of processors using HyperTransport™ coherency is the eighth-generation AMD OpteronTM processor. Non-coherent HyperTransport™ links are used to connect all other system components. The coherence layer is not part of the HyperTransport™ specification.

xp5000, sgolds - Is coherent HTT(where the rubber meets the road for glueless MP) even available to Intel? Or anyone else, for that matter?

Paul
The coherent HTT bus is not part of the consortium!

On another topic.
I had a conversation with my friend John, he had 3(three) tumers removed a day or so more than three weeks ago. He was wearing a jungle hat for obvious reasons. He was in excellent spirits. I had spoken with his wife allso, she said the operation was performed at UMass Memorial Hospital and went very well. He feels great.
He looks good!

Best of Luck.

regards
