Thanks. Dumb question: Why do threads that are not about specific stocks even have a field that looks like a ticker?

Could you write code so that if a non-stock category is chosen for a new thread, even though a member may type a ticker, that it is either ignored or hidden when the thread is actually assigned a number and initialized?

I understand the fake ticker -- it's a vanity thing (like a vanity license plate?) for many non-stock boards already in existence -- but is this what you want going forward?

And it appears that this thread is now intended to promote a promoter's web site, according to what's in the iBox now (earlier today, it was about "promoter ethics" and now it is not, apparently).
