DJ Darling Intl 1Q Net More Than Doubles On Higher Pdt Prices

Darling International Inc.'s (DAR) first-quarter net income more than doubled to $21.5 million, or 26 cents a share, from $9.6 million, or 12 cents a share, in the prior-year period, due in part to higher finished product prices and increased raw material volume
The Irving, Texas, food processing company's sales rose to $202 million from $138.6 million last year.
The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Reuters were for per-share earnings of 21 cents on revenue of $183.8 million.
Shares in Darling International rebounded after hours, rising 82 cents to $15.75 after shedding $1.42, or 8.7%, as of the close of the regular session.
