#2515 RE: spokeshave #2514

spokeshave, maybe you better tell these 17,000 people that.
Also, the monthy service charge seems very reasonable. Note that this is today's news.

K-Opticom Accepts 17,000 Advance Registrations for FTTH Service in Kansai
March 1, 2002 (TOKYO) -- K-Opticom Corp., a subsidiary of Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., said it has accepted nearly 17,000 "advance registrations" for its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service called "eo-mega fiber" (for home.)

The service, designed for houses, enables a maximum transmission speed of 100Mbps.

K-Opticom will begin offering the service April 1 in six prefectures in the Kansai area, covering 70 percent of the households in that region. The monthly fee is set at 6,000 yen. (134.06 yen = US$1)

Those wishing to use the service must complete the advance registration. After they confirm that their homes are located within the "eo-mega fiber" service area, they can complete the application process.

K-Opticom began receiving formal applications on March 1, after accepting advance registrations on Feb. 1. According to the company, most of the registrants are living in the service area. Apparently, K-Opticom is making a satisfactory start in preparation for accepting formal applications.
