SQNM sells MassARRAY "system" to Yale

[Normally, I would shy away from a company whose PR touts selling a machine to one place, regardless of its prestige, but this is analogous to Starbucks announcing how many new stores they have opened.]

Yale University Purchases Sequenom MassARRAY Platform
Monday May 12, 4:00 am ET

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sequenom, Inc. (NASDAQ:SQNM - News), a leading provider of genetic analysis solutions, today announced the purchase by the W.M. Keck Foundation Biotechnology Resource Laboratory at Yale University of Sequenom’s MassARRAY® system. Yale plans to use the system as a platform for genotyping, copy number variation (CNV), methylation and quantitative gene expression (QGE) applications.

“The W.M. Keck Foundation Biotechnology Resource Laboratory is a highly respected institution, making this a particularly important placement,” said Mike Monko, SEQUENOM’S Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing. “The MassARRAY system’s ability to provide multiple applications for genetic research on a single platform has promoted the placement of our platform into almost all major university core laboratories.”

Shrikant M. Mane, Ph.D., Director of Microarray Resources at the W.M. Keck Facility, stated, “Service requests from Yale researchers as well as other third-party organizations have significantly increased, prompting our purchasing decision. After conducting a thorough analysis of competing platforms in the gene- and whole-genome and fine-mapping and validation genetic analysis markets, we chose Sequenom's MassARRAY technology as the platform that best suits our numerous requirements.”
