I think Sandler tried but soon realized it was hopeless. I believe he has moved on, avoiding the humility of admitting he was unsuccessful, and that no one was ever going to recover their losses, himself included.
There is no reason on his part to do anything further, that I know of. Maybe someone will eventually buy the shell, but that won't happen unless he announces that it is for sale. I doubt he would even do that.
