Back when I was trading, this almost always worked. Especially if you got one those young, cocky analysts on there.

As soon as he opens his mouth, you open the short position.

Then, sit back and enjoy.

Me, personally, I can't stand analysts. Most of them never put their money on the line. Just client money.

That's one of the great things about message boards. You can get a better sentiment, because you are reading people who are putting actual money on the line and often watching their thoughts/sentiment in real-time as to when to buy/sell.

I haven't put on mock positions to test it, but I've watched a number of stocks to see what they do on analyst recommendations and I'm very convinced that 3 days after a buy rec is a great time to open a short position.

Would be curious to see what a basket of such positions would do over the long haul, but I'm inclined to think the winners would overpower the losers by quite a margin.
