Timing the market is a fools game, people who have 50-60-70 years experience, billions at their command can't do it, why do people that have 2 years experience, and 10,000 to invest think they can.
I disagree with you here. The commercial houses trade for a living and do very well, so it is hardly a fool's game.
The average investor, I agree, is taking on too much risk in daytrading his or her IRA, however, to be in the stock market anf not at larger market issues, to not set stop limits on long positions, and to not take profits regularly, is terribly risky in a bear market.
