You're saying that your choice of car defines who you are and that you use this as a criterion when you look at others, is this an accurate representation of what you feel?

Because if it is, I have no problem with it. you're a 21 year old young man and that's how many young men your age feel.

What I hear others saying, however, is that many people, as they age, marry, buy property, and perhaps have children, de-prioritize cars. Can you understand that this may be the case?

That that you should de-prioritize cars, but that many people do.

I define who I am. No material possesion can define me. If I owned the world, I would still only be known as Josh, not the man who owns the world. I am simply a tiny part of this convergence of matter known as material creation which consists of millions upon millions of planets, star systems, etc. There are an uncountable number of different species of life proliferating almost every corner of the universe and if a person thinks that the type of car they drive or the type of house they live in makes any difference in who that person is, then that person is a poor, pitiful soul with a very small mind and no real understanding of the world in which they live. You claim to be smart and then at every chance you get, you show how ignorant you really are. The human race is a babe in the woods that is this universe and we have a very long way to go in order to reach an enlightened state. We can't even travel out of our own star system and yet we have people walking around all full of themselves thinking how great, wise, and amazing they are. We can't cure cancer, AIDS or even feed our own people. We still have bloody wars over lines drawn on a map. We have no reason whatsoever to even think that we are a great race of beings. Humility should be our constant companion until we can solve what really amount to very small problems when weighed against the massive nature of the universe in which we live. I can assure you that little Joemoney, in his little car, in his little neighborhood, in a little state, in a little country, on a little planet, in a tiny, backwater galaxy, in this giant conglomeration of matter that is material creation is of little consequence to anyone besides little Joemoney and little Joemoney's creator. It's how you live your life, not the material possesions you accrue in life that defines you my friend. Anyone who believes differently is under a false impression and is still blinded by the clouds of ignorance and therefore cannot see things as they truly are. I hope you will someday learn to see through the fog that now clouds your mind, but until then, you can't be of help to anyone, most especially yourself. Peace!
