I have seen in the past to where sometime contracts change. If I had to guess, the terms that Royis had agreed to were based upon the old direction that ECCI was heading.
I think that due to this new direction, there might be some changes that would allow the flexibility for Royis to exercise change.
Being in the military, I can't the amount of times that I have seen and have been part of contracts "peacefully" changing within the civilian realm. I'm only guessing from my previous experiences that there are some kind of clauses to allow for change, but maybe not unless you have some facts to support why he has no options for change.
