>Why do you want an audit?
Because I am a cheapskate, and don't have any expert
taxmen of close enough acquaintance to hit on for a
nice long conference. I cold called the leading practioner
in my county (Valencia, NM) some ten years ago
about that weirdness of including the flat periods in the
holding period of replacement property and he was very nice
and laid it out for me (I suppose taking me for a prospective
client, and thereby turning me into one). I do have a couple
CPAs I can bother once in a while but they both squirm when
it comes to tax stuff, one remarked "tax is a lot more than
accounting". Calling the IRS is a total waste of time--if
it's in a pub it's faster to find it yourself and if not they
won't know anything, they're really just pamphlet librarians.
It would be worth it just to hear his take on what mouton was
speaking to: where wash ends and related person begins.
The other thing is, I have taken such unholy effort to get
my stuff in perfect array that I feel like I deserve a gold
star, which means coming out not just on my feet but with a
bucket of recognition in hand.
