Not always, but clearly think the market doesn't reflect the risks adequately or the deterioration in earnings quality (and, of course, there's a required Fed pump EVERY day !)

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) - Venture capitalists' portfolio companies are gunning the accelerator like motorists freed from a traffic jam in a dark tunnel . The first quarter saw half the number of initial public offerings as completed in all of 2003. Additionally, 78 venture-backed companies merged or were bought in deals totaling $5.34 billion. Ten companies raised a total of $718 million in this first-quarter's IPOs, according to VentureOne. IPO activity remains well below the pre-bubble levels of the '90s, but it is a sign of improvement. The fourth quarter of 2003 and first quarter of this year mark the first time that IPOs reached double digits for two straight quarters since 2000. Additionally, 29 companies filed to go public in the first quarter, such as Shopping.com, the online price-comparison site.
