Most likely, or had to do a favor for one his hedge fund buddies, at the cost of his own reputation.
I'd find him more likeable if he just manned up and took the BSC call on the chin once and for all. Maybe he has, I dont know because I dont follow his show closely. When I do tune in, I recognize his calls as a contrarian indicator, lol.
