Yes, that appears to be the case. ...or at least of the "hype" and vested-interests variety. :(

Examples:

1. CYLC: http://www.thestockadvisor.com/featured/CYLC100506.htm
"A $1.20 PER SHARE OIL COMPANY WITH A HEART OF GOLD... AND A NET ASSET VALUE THAT COULD SUGGEST A $20 SHARE PRICE"

CYLC is now at $0.09

2. GDVE: http://www.moneyweek.com/file/3122/katrina-clean-up.html
"In the US, consider Global Development and Environmental Resources (GDVE), says Carl Waynberg in The GRIP newsletter. ..."

GDVE at that time (9/16/2005) was at an all-time high of $5.90
GDVE is now at $0.01

That's just a couple examples, many more via GOOG. His writing style is humorous, at least, for whatever it's worth. I admit, I haven't researched enough, as far as other picks where he might've actually helped companies in the long-term. But those two were literally the first ones I looked up. It didn't instill confidence, to put it mildly.

I have shares of GWDC. So it might seem counterintuitive to people that I'm bringing this stuff up. It's because I want to see this company, unlike the thousands of other pump & dump stocks out there, actually be a real, serious company. The people with the most sense/wisdom are the ones who build legitimate businesses. A heck a lot more money can be made with a real business rather than short-term hype & cashing out. And everyone benefits that way.

I'm not one for hype + dumpers. I won't pass judgment too much yet till I see what happens. I am one for excitement & word of mouth based on reality. Expand and increase revenues and it'll happen.
