I am all for capitalism but sometimes reaching for the stars without looking at the ladder holding you up is poor planning leading to disaster. $200 per barrel for oil would plunge the entire world into a recession that would make the “dirty 30’s” look like a tea party on the Whitehouse lawn. While most bemoan weekly price increases on oil as a personal attack on their ability to drive, in truth it affects every aspect of our collective ability to move goods and services, most of which are made with the aid of oil. $200 bucks per and we all had better stocked up on plenty of gold because a loaf of bread or an old potato could easily become a luxury item.
