Haddock, it's much more impressive when you consider that they don't sell that many more MIPS architecture chips. The crossover of IPF over MIPS will probably occur later this year at SGI. The point of the statistic, that you have obviously missed, is that SGI has made IPF an instant success in the HPC market, and their customers are demanding an immediate transition (and this is even before they have transitioned the majority of their product lines). That's pretty unprecedented for a new architecture.
