It depends. Remember that we don't have any real comparison between the Hammers and the PentiumM, so it's hard to compare the two chips at a given clock rate. As far as calculations per watts, I doubt seriously if such a chip could match a PentiumM. Intel went to great lengths to cut power consumption which AMD didn't do. However, the integrated memory controller and HTT link complicates the comparison. It could be that the system power costs could be closer than a strict match up between the cores. And given that a core by itself is but a curiosity...

It looks as if the systems that HPaq sells has about the same power consumption as the equivalent Centrino systems, assuming that they have roughly the same IPC. Whether or not that assumption is valid, is a question I can't make a good guess at.
