A shell corp is a publically trading corp that has no operations yet still trades. Check this link for a more complete explanation on why shell stocks can be very lucrative investments.
Please note not all shells are good investments. DD must be done before buying. There are many resources on Ihub and on the net that will clue you in how to buy the best shells.
To answer your other question, imo TMXU as a shell play alone was highly desireable (my personal favorite to date) but now that we know, and presuming if all goes as I was told, that we are still in operation and are being acquired by venture capitalists, we can infer that TMEX's operations and/or technology is worth it for somebody to acquire. Anytime a BIGGER FISH devours a little fish, spells good news for the pps and for shareholders. Considering that TMXU has been in business since 1996, as you so aptly pointed out, and quite active as we can deduce from the Network Technologies International website, (expansion to Africa etc)we can make the assumption there was a highly desireable business/ and or technology to acquire here or why would they bother?
Does that make sense? It seems to be a win/win situation to me no matter how you slice imo....
add in the usual disclaimer....dont bet the farm, play at your own risk..... etc etc
