If the biggest chain Walmart gave up on the idea what does that tell you? Also, as the article states; they see downloading to be relevant in about 10 years from now, but not now!
Walmart was at the Last CES show inquiring about "Burn on Demand" technology immediately after canceling the download service!
No...."TT" I can't find that Link, but I'm sure I'm not the only 1 here that has read it (so don't ask me), ahahahah
Comments from links below:
"But Wal-Mart’s decision not to look for another partner meshes with HP’s own explanation that the company discontinued its merchant store services for video downloads because the market did not perform “as expected.”
"Videos purchased on Walmart.com can be played using the Microsoft Windows Media Player or the Wal-Mart Video Download Manager, but cannot be transferred to a computer other than the one used to download them, according to the site".
1) It will not be able to be transferred to any other device and played! It can only be played on the downloaded device.
2) It cannot be play on a standard DVD player, which then eliminates it from being shared at family affairs/gathering.
3) What majority wants to watch a movie on a laptop all the time or only?
4) Everyone does not have a laptop and more cant afford one- You just eliminated a vast % there alone
5) It take how many minutes/hours to download a Movie???? Yeah, and try doing so without getting a disruption!
Much more DD is out there, but downloads limit the buyer in ways it can be both viewed and played. Also as stated by the article it is ever changing and does not have a good support level thus far!
billscomp, I hope this gets you started and I know the headache of explaining this technology in comparison to the media that is already on the market.
Best to you.........Go PCLI!!!! Lets go from pennies to $$'s
